Art by Aarohi Singh

all pictures via Art By Aarohi

"It's fun, colorful and quirky.
It seems over the top and sometimes even disparate...
but it's all me. My love for my country, my culture, my people.
It's how I see colour and mood.
It's my take on life today!!", says Aarohi

Aarohi Singh is an artist. Started just like that 15 years back, is now a full fledged profession for this young painter. She paints in Oil, Acrylics, Watercolor, Pastels and works on Paper, Canvas, Metal, Cardboard, Wood, Fabric. No matter what the medium, Aarohi prefers to paint people, in their moods and colors.

Accent Chest Hunt...

Hey all...
How is the weekend going on??...
Well we have a longgg weekend here in USA, as July 4th is the Independence Day here.
Well coming back to the post, recently we were thinking a lot of having an accent chest for our living room. But haven't yet come up with something final. Still looking for good design, utility storage, should go with our dark chocolate colored sectional and of course the big word it should be 'in budget'. I saw some, so thought of sharing and having your feedback for options.
Have a look!

So let me know about your choices and also some ideas
and of course any other brand/place to get this from.
Take Care, enjoy your weekend!

Postage Stamps!

In the world of Emails, SMS, BBMs, Facebook, Twitter...we have forgotten our postal services. Well we do need it for a few official works, but that's when we 'NEED' it, else almost everything can be done on Internet. And with this amazing Postal Service, we forgot those beautiful postage stamps. Started with my maternal-aunts in their childhood, I continued to update that red stamp collection book. This reminded me while using US Postal Service. Around the world, different countries have different designs and layouts of postage stamps. Just thought of looking at some of the Indian Postage Stamps. There is a huge list of Indian postage stamps, see here. While searching for this post. I came across this amazing link which showcase stamps in India year by year, see here.

Moroccon Style

Since I am living here in USA, I have become a big fan of HGTV, Home & Garden Television. I love all, ALL the programs and designers. I watch it the whole day, even the repeats! You can say I am addicted to it ;)
Well, recently I have since a lot of Moroccan Architecture and Style. It's the new 'in' thing in home decor. So thought my friends might like it. Moroccan Style is a new Trend in decoration. Infact right now too my HGTV is on, and they just showed a Moroccan makeover of a living room. So here are some pictures that might inspire you for some projects.

Textile Museum of Canada

May 2011
As I said in my earlier post, I have a treat for Textile Lovers :)
Recently we went to Toronto, Canada to visit my aunt who was there for a month. And as always, I made a long  list of what all we must see in Toronto, and as usual couldn't cover all due to time and logistic reasons. There were four museums on my list, Bata Shoe Museum, Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Textile Museum of Canada and Gardiner Museum (ceramics). But we covered just two them ROM and Textile Museum. So here I am sharing a 'detailed' experience of the Textile Museum of Canada.

connecting cloth, culture and art

Dedicated to promote an understanding of human identity through textiles, the Textile Museum of Canada (TMC) is a non-profit institution, exhibitions, volunteering and school programs. TMC has a collection of more than 12,000 textiles from around the world. Covering 2,000 years of textile history, the collection includes fabrics, ceremonial cloths, garments, carpets, quilts and related artifacts.. Here is what we saw there. Please enlarge and enjoy the pictures!
